I believe in a world where everyone has the power to transform their lives and their communities through food. Choosing food democracy, means choosing revolution. But it is a choice that will save this planet.
For the past two years, I have served as the Urban Agriculture Coordinator for Billings Forge Community Works in Hartford, CT, having helped to grow the organization in various capacities since 2009. I am an urban farmer, a choreographer, and a dancer, with stage management and community organizing experience. I have a BA in Cultural Studies from McGill University, and an MA in Cultural Sustainability from Goucher College, with a certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
In short- a work in progress, colored by: travel, Arts, nature, farming, environmentalism, new information, HUMANS!, crossword puzzles, passion for change, delicious food; with an interest in how things came to be, a drive to make them better, and a belief that it is from points of struggle that we grow.
I am thrilled to be a Global Advocate, which will allow me to continue to explore my love of sustainable agriculture in an international setting in Kenya. I am excited for the potential power, possibility, and opportunity to share this new love in a global setting and for it to open it’s heart up to me.
